Winona Ryder Professionally Winona Ryder, was born on Winona Minnesota. The name she was given by parents for the town in which her birthplace was. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's father came from an ethnically Jewish family Ryder thinks she's Jewish. The actress is the youngest sister of Uria as well as half-siblings Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County to California when she was seven years aged. The town didn't even have electricity. There was no television books was her only source of entertainment to keep her busy and she began to read extensively. When she turned 12 Ryder took up a place at the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. When she was in 1986, she had her first major-screen appearance in the movie Lucas aged just fifteen years old. Ryder experienced bullying at her high school. Ryder had hoped that her profession as a performer would bring about change. However, unfortunately, it didn't work out. The actress continued to chase her goals. Her breakthrough came with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in the year 1988. Ryder performed in a number of roles that were successful for several films. Ryder was nominated twice for Academy Awards one for her performance in The Age of Innocence (1993).
